Men's Basketball's 2023-24 Roster Has Five New Additions

CARSON – Cal State Dominguez Hills head men’s basketball coach Steve Becker has unveiled his five new additions the Toros roster.

Sporting burgundy and gold colors this upcoming 2023-24 season are Jakob Alamudun, a 6-6 guard from Lehigh University; Za-Ontay Boothman, a 6-1 guard transferring from Mineral Area College; Jayden Winfrey, a 6-2 point guard from Pasadena City Colley; and John Solomon III, a 6-8 forward from the University of Montana; and Matthew Mayes, a 6-5 wing transferring from Western Washington.

My staff and I are excited to get this group together and get to work.

We return nine letter winners with CCAA experience, and with this group of newcomers we’ve added scoring, playmaking, and size.

We have versatility with this group, who can guard multiple positions and present match up issues for defenses. We have great students, even better people and we are hungry to get Toro basketball to the top of the CCAA.”

Jakob Alamudun
We are very excited Jakob chose to finish his college career closer to home & in a Toro uniform. I’ve known Jakob since he was a freshman in high school playing for a friend, Nick Racklin, at my alma mater, Marina High School. His versality and playmaking for himself & others will fit in very well within our style of play. Jakob understands how to attack mismatches on offense, and he has the size and strength to guard several different positions on the defensive end. He is a mature young man, and we are excited to get to work with him.

He has the ability to take over a game with his shot making ability and is a great teammate. He comes to us from John Ortega’s Powerhouse Hoops AAU program in Arizona.
