NSCAA Names Murphy and Pedrotti to 2nd-team All-Region Squad

Peel earns 3rd-team nod while head coach Joe Flanagan is named West Region Coach of the Year

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Just three days away from their first NCAA Final Four appearance and the fourth-overall by the program, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named Cal State Dominguez Hills sophomore Jessica Murphy and junior Makenzie Pedrotti to the NSCAA 2nd-team All-Region squad, it was announced this afternoon.

Sophomore Paige Peel was named to the 3rd-team in a revised release issued this morning, with head coach Joe Flanagan earning West Region Coach of the Year.

Murphy was amongst the CCAA league leaders after the regular season, finishing 2nd in goals, 4th in points, 6th in game-winning goals and 10th in assists, while leading her squad in all four categories.  The Torrance native earlier claimed 1st-team Daktronics All-Region and 1st-team All-CCAA nods after tallying 5 multi-goal contests, including back-to-back games to start CSUDH's 4-game win streak in mid-September, and one in the NCAA Quarterfinal win over No. 13 West Texas A&M.  In fact, Murphy has scored 5 goals and tallied one assist in her past three games, with multi-score efforts in two contests.

Pedrotti has been consistent in her second season as a Toro, tallying 8 goals, 3 assists and 19 points thus far, as well as 3 game-winners.  After kicking off the season with a 2-goal effort, Pedrotti regained her scoring touch towards the end of the regular season, tallying a score in three-consecutive contests, including consecutive game-winners in identical 2-0 wins over CS East Bay and No. 4 Seattle Pacific.  The Pasadena native, who was named to both the Daktronics and All-CCAA 2nd-teams, then solidified her importance on the team with a score and two assists in CSUDH's quarterfinal win over No. 13 West Texas A&M on November 22, lifting the Toros to this week's semifinal match-up.

Peel, who earlier earned Dakronics 1st-team All-Region and 2nd-team All-CCAA honors, helped lead the Toro defense to 10 shutouts and eight contests with just one goal scored as the only Toro to start all 26 games this year.  In addition, the Bakersfield native notched 2 goals this season, including her lone game-winner in a 3-0 win at CS Monterey Bay in mid-September.

Flanagan, who is in his 8th season at the helm of the women's squad, notched his 100th win as women's head coach in a 1-0 overtime win at No. 14 Cal State L.A. on September 23, and enters the Final Four with a 111-55-17 mark, good for a 65.3% winning percentage.

The Toros, ranked No. 15 with a 16-8-2 mark, will face the nation's top-ranked team in undefeated West Florida in the second women's semifinal on Thursday night, set for a local 8:00 pm first kick in Tampa, Florida, on the campus of Tampa University.
