CSUDH Announces 2010 Fall Schedules

CARSON -- Nearly nine months removed from the women's soccer team reaching the NCAA Title game, the men's squad making its second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals, and competitive seasons for both volleyball and cross-country squads, Cal State Dominguez Hills has released its fall 2010 season schedules.

The women's soccer team, returning 10 of 11 starters including two All-Americans in Jessica Murphy and Paige Peel, begins defense of its West Region Title on September 2 in Toro Stadium against Concordia (CA), the first of two home contests against NAIA opponents.

After commencing with CCAA play on the road at CS East Bay and UC San Diego in a road-heavy first half of the regular season, the Toros enjoy a home stretch with seven of their final eight games in Carson, with the lone road contest taking place at cross-town rival Cal State L.A.  This clash comes 11 days before honoring their seniors for a Halloween match-up against CS San Bernardino as a prelude to the postseason.

The men's squad, led by All-Region and CCAA Newcomer of the Year in sophomore keeper Markus Dickerson, follows suit hosting Concordia and Vanguard the first week of September, before taking to the road for 6 CCAA games in an 8-game league stretch.

Once home, however, CSUDH concludes the regular season with 7 of their final 8 games at home, including a marquee match-up against Sonoma State on Sunday, October 17, set for a 2 pm first kick in Carson.

The Toro volleyball team opens its 2010 campaign at the Concordia (CA)/Vanguard Tournament the weekend before Labor Day, before returning home for four-consecutive CCAA matches, culminating against perennial power CS San Bernardino on September 18.

Taking to the road for five-straight matches and nine of the next 11, the Toros return home for six-straight in late October-early November, honoring their seniors on November 6 against Cal State East Bay before finishing the regular season on the road the following weekend.

Looking to again be competitive after welcoming back program founder Deann Schlobohm for her second year as head coach, the Toros cross-country team stays local for their 2010 campaign, heading to Brea, Irvine, Riverside, Costa Mesa and El Monte for their regular season and league championships, before the NCAA Regionals commence the great northwest on November 20, hosted by Western Washington.
