Toros Bowled Over for Junior Achievement Kids

TORRANCE --
Nearly 40 Cal State Dominguez Hills student-athletes, coaches and administrators made their way to Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in Torrance last Monday for the "3rd Annual Junior Achievement/Toro Bowl-A-Thon,” a fund-raising event sponsored by Junior Achievement to benefit Junior Achievement of Southern California and the Cal State Dominguez Hills Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Commenting on the "skill" displayed by the Toro student-athletes, CSUDH Marketing and Promotions Coordinator and honorary event photographer Tiffany Edlin chuckled, "If only we had an extra dollar for every gutter ball today ...."

In another stellar pairing between the two organizations, participants sought sponsorships for their bowling extravaganza, with the tax-deductible sponsorships being split evenly between JA and CSUDH's SAAC.

JA Worldwide is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.  JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.  Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students.  Embodying the heart of JA, the nearly 300,000 classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of the lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.

"The Bowl-A-Thon was great, and I want to thank Lucky Strike and especially Junior Achievement for continuing and developing our relationship," said SAAC President #Ashley Clark#.  "We're already looking forward to next year's event!"
