Katie Jordan Earns Worth/CCAA Player of the Week Honor

WALNUT CREEK -- Senior Katie Jordan was named this week's Worth/CCAA Softball Player of the Week for the week of March 8-14, it was announced by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) office this morning.

This is Jordan's first such honor, adding to three All-CCAA and one All-Region award in her career.

Jordan was a table-setter as the Toros took 3-of-4 from visiting Cal State East Bay to get back into the thick of the CCAA race, scoring a team-best 5 runs while tying for the most hits with 7 in just 11 at-bats.

The senior designated player/left fielder got her weekend started by belting two hits in her last two at-bats in CSUDH's come-from-behind extra inning win to start the series, driving in and scoring a run in the bottom of the 7th game-tying rally before contributing to the romp in the nightcap with a hit and run scored.

The Huntington Beach native nearly won Saturday's opener herself after going 3-for-3 and scoring both runs before the Pioneers mounted their extra-inning comeback, while again contributing with a hit and run scored as the Toros took the nightcap for their third win in four games.

On Saturday, Jordan also reached base in five-consecutive at-bats.

On the weekend, Jordan batted .636 while scoring a team best 5 runs. The speedster enjoyed two multi-hit contests and scored at least one run in all four games, adding a stolen base for good measure and finishing second on the team in on-base and slugging percentages.

This marks the second-consecutive week a Toro has received the honor and fourth time this season, follow Amber Angel's POW honor last week.

The Toros, now 16-10, 11-9 CCAA, host CS San Bernardino tomorrow at 1:00 pm for a non-conference twinbill, before traveling to Turlock for the annual Tournament of Champions Tournament.
