Women's Soccer Jumps Up One to No. 9 in Latest NCAA Region Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Having swept its last homestand against Humboldt State and Sonoma State, and riding the first Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week honor of 2010 for junior All-American Jessica Murphy, the defending NCAA West Region champion Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest NCAA region poll, released today.

The top six teams in the West qualify for NCAA postseason play, set to begin November 11 at a site to be determined.

Ranked No. 7 by the NSCAA, BYU-Hawai'i retains the top spot, with No. 21 UC San Diego remaining at No. 2.

Thirteenth-ranked Seattle Pacific jumped Western Washington for the third spot, with the Vikings dropping to 4th, and San Francisco State and Cal State L.A. occupying spots No. 5 and No. 6.

Grand Canyon moved up two spots to No. 7, with Montana State Billings debuting at No. 8 and CS San Bernardino checking in at No. 10.

CSUDH is led by a two-headed offensive monster in juniors Murphy and Taylor Canatsey, who have combined for 19 of the team's 27 goals, and 47 of its 84 points.

Defensively, keeper Alyssa Congdon (pictured) lowered her GAA to 0.99 and boasts 6 shutouts, good for third in the CCAA.

After beginning the season with a 5-1 mark, the Toros have won three-consecutive contests, outscoring their opponents 6-1 in the process heading into tonight's match-up at cross-town rival Cal State L.A.

Sporting a 10-3-1, 8-3-1 CCAA ledger, the Toros return home for their final three regular season matches after tonight, where they are 7-1 at Toro Stadium, their only setback coming at the hands of UCSD on October 8.
