Markus Dickerson Named CCAA Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Redshirt freshman keeper Markus Dickerson earned his first CCAA Player of the Week honor after leading the Toros to a pair of road wins at No. 7 Sonoma State and Humboldt State last week.  This is Dickerson's first ever honor, and the first of the year for the defending NCAA champions.

Against the Seawolves, Dickerson out-dueled his All-American counterpart with a shutout against the high-powered Seawolf offense, repelling 5 blasts as CSUDH ended Sonoma's 24-game unbeaten streak at Seawolf Field.

The redshirt freshman nearly duplicated his effort against the Lumberjacks two days later as he held HSU scoreless for the first 75 minutes before the hosts finally broke through at the 75:43 mark, finishing with 5 more saves to run his weekend tally to 10.

Overall, Dickerson boasted a 0.50 GAA with just one goal allowed in 180 minutes played, bringing the Toros back in the CCAA Championship Tournament mix and within six points of south division leader and top-ranked Cal State L.A.

The Toros, at 8-5-1, 7-4-1 CCAA, begin their penultimate league weekend this Friday as UC San Diego visits Carson, for a 4:30 pm first kick.
