Congdon Named Brine/CCAA Player of the Week

Stellar sophomore posts two shutouts against southern California foes

Walnut Creek, CA – Cal State Dominguez Hills' goalkeeper Alyssa Congdon has been named the Brine California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 22-29, it was announced this afternoon by the CCAA office.  This is Congdon's third-career POW honor after receiving two in her freshman campaign.

A sophomore and 3rd-team All-CCAA selection last year, Congdon was strong in goal over the weekend as she helped the Toros to a pair of 1-0 victories over Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.

The Torrance native got her week started with a 4-save performance against the Coyotes, the NSCAA's 5th-ranked  team in the West, and tallied 5 saves two days later against the Broncos, the NSCAA's 6th-ranked team in the West, preserving CSUDH's 1-0 win.  The Toros' goalkeeper played all 180 minutes and recorded nine saves while recording her second and third shutouts of the season.

CSUDH looks to continue its winning ways as Humboldt State visits Carson this Friday, with first kick set for 4:30 pm in Toro Stadium, in the Track and Field Facility at the Home Depot Center.
