Toros Place 18 on CCAA’s All-Academic List

Walnut Creek, CA -- Eighteen Toros, including four making their third appearance and three others making repeat appearances, were honored for their academic achievements by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) as they earned a 2007-08 All-Academic Award, it was announced this afternoon by the CCAA.
   
Individually, women's soccer's #Sandy Lloyd# and #Kristen Boskovich#, cross country's #Janet Ramer# and softball's #Christine Bathauer# all earned their third-consecutive CCAA All-Academic honor, while golf's #Raphael Malabanan#, cross country's #Kelly Corral# and men's soccer's #Scott Mariano# all made repeat appearances on the distinguished list.
   
Women's soccer fielded the most recipients with four honorees, with cross country / track and field, baseball and volleyball placing three student-athletes on the list.  Softball followed with two while men's golf, men's soccer and women's basketball rounded out the 18 Toros on the list with one member qualifying from each sport.
   
In the conference, the Toros placed 10th of 11 schools, with UC San Diego (79), Cal State Stanislaus (52) and Cal State Monterey Bay (43) taking the top three places.

    * Softball - Christine Bathauer, Kristin Tanaka
    * Volleyball -  Tiffany Bull, Ashley Clark, Lauren Wells

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner who competed in one of 13 CCAA-sponsored sports during the 2007-08 academic year.

Student-athletes must also have a grade point average of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units completed at the certifying institution, with non-graded units able to count towards the 24/36 unit total.
