CSUDH Athletics Announces Fall 2008 Schedules
Carson, CA -- Fresh off a CCAA Championship and two NCAA postseason appearances, Cal State Dominguez Hills athletics has announced the fall 2008 schedules for men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball and cross country.

The two-time defending CCAA Champion men's soccer team earned four All-America awards last season and return a bevy of experienced and talented personnel, anchored by two-time junior All-American Kevin Gallaugher and junior All-Region selection Mario Guerrero.

The Toros women's soccer team, which earned an NCAA first round win over UC San Diego after qualifying for its third national postseason appearance in four years, bid farewell to nine seniors, including five 4-year graduates, but return CCAA 1st-team and Newcomer of the Year winner Yvonne Vasquez and a pair of All-CCAA selections in senior forward Kelly Matosian and sophomore keeper Alyssa Congdon.

Head coach Scott Davenport begins his second year at the helm of the volleyball program, and will look to his five returners, including senior outside TaMesha Jefferson and sophomore outsides Marissa Anderson and Ashley Clark, to help guide the newcomers and bring the Toros towards the CCAA's upper echelon.

Women's cross country, which lost its most consistent runner in 2007, welcomes five newcomers to five returners in hopes of improving upon its placing at last year's CCAA Championships.

The 2008 fall campaign officially kicks off on Thursday, August 28, as the soccer teams host Grand Canyon in Toro Stadium.  Volleyball follows with an August 29 match against Academy of Art - San Francisco, with cross country beginning its season on September 6, at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine.
