Eighteenth Annual Toros Scholarship Golf Classic Tees Off on June 16

Major fundraiser moves to exquisite Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach

Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics has confirmed its 2008 Toros Scholarship Golf Classic for Monday, June 16, at the prestigious Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California.  This annual event, which serves as one of two major fundraisers for the Toros athletics program, is pleased to again welcome Walter Neil, the External Affairs Manager of British Petroleum - Carson Refinery, as its Honorary Chairman.

The Classic looks to sell the event out for the second time in three years, with all proceeds from the Golf Classic going towards student-athlete scholarships.

The day begins with a 10:00 a.m. registration and boxed lunch, followed by an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start.  The four-person “shamble,” a modified scramble format, will include contests for closest to the pin and the longest drive, along with many other surprises for the day's participants.

Following the day's play will be a silent auction consisting of many one-of-a-kind items to commence at 4:15 pm, followed by dinner at 5:00 pm, distribution of awards and prizes at 5:30 pm, and the always-exciting live auction to conclude the day, set for a 6:00 pm start.  Additionally, opportunity drawings will take place throughout the afternoon featuring CSUDH merchandise, apparel and other valuable prizes.

Only a handful of foursomes remain in the tournament, so be sure to reserve your spot today by downloading the information brochure and submitting it to the Athletics Department.  In addition to participating in a foursome, sponsorship packages are available to help fund student-athlete scholarships for the coming years.

The deadline for entry fees, participants and sponsorships for the 2008 Golf Classic is Wednesday, May 28, and should be sent to the Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics Department.  For more information, contact CSUDH Director of Athletics Patrick Guillen or CSUDH Special Events Coordinator Deann Schlobohm at 310.243.3893.
