Kevin Gallaugher Again Tabbed NSCAA 1st-Team All-American

Senior forward Kyle Holland joins Gallaugher in earning 2nd-team All-America honors

Kevin Gallaugher now is a 4-time All-American
Kansas City, MO - Continuing the accolades befitting a National Championship year, junior defender Kevin Gallaugher was tabbed a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 1st-team All-American for the second-consecutive year, and was joined by senior Kyle Holland, who earned his first-career NSCAA All-America honor, a 2nd-team nod.

Gallaugher, now a four-time All-American, was the heart and soul of the Toro defense, leading the NCAA Champions to 14 shutouts on the year en route to earning NCAA Final Four MVP Defensive, Daktronics 1st-team All-America, Daktronics 1st-team All-Region, CCAA MVP Defensive, 1st-team All-CCAA, and CCAA Player of the Week honors.

The 6'2 defender also enjoyed two games with 2 goals each en route to 5 on the season, while helping hold 3 NCAA postseason opponents scoreless in 5 total playoff games.

Holland earned his second All-America honor of the season after earning Daktronics 1st-team All-America, Daktronics 1st-team All-Region, 1st-team All-CCAA and CCAA Player of the Week honors earlier this year.

An Anchorage, Alaska native, Holland saved his best for last after leading the team in both goals and points, tallying his first hat trick in the 3-0 win over #25 Notre Dame de Namur in the NCAA first round.  Holland also connected for a team-best 5 game-winning goals while sending 44% of his shots on goal.

The Toros, who finished the season at 21-2-4, claimed their second NCAA National Title after making their third Final Four appearance in the past eight years, and will return 13 players in 2009 from its Championship team.
