Joining the Toro staff in the Fall of 2009, Pfohl comes to Carson with a deep history of the game having coached at the high school, collegiate and summer league levels.
Prior to CSUDH, Pfohl served for one year at nearby Vanguard University, serving as the associate recruiting coordinator, outfield coach and first base coach.
Graduating from Whittier college with his bachelor’s degree in business administration, Pfohl saw action for the Poets as a pitcher from 2004-2006.
After graduation from Whittier College, Pfohl served as the Pitching Coach for the Mankato Moondogs of the prestigious collegiate Northwoods League. The Moondogs were first-half Northern Division Champs and finished one game behind the eventual division-winning Thunder Bay Border Cats. He also has high school coaching experience from serving as an assistant varsity coach for Head Coach Steve Vickery at San Diego powerhouse El Capitan High School.
Born in San Francisco, Calif., Pfohl currently resides in Huntington Beach and enjoys golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Says Coach Su'a:
"Coach Pfohl will serve in any areas including baseball operations and baseball administration. Erich has great knowledge of the game and can teach it well. He also has a good eye for talent and does a great job in finding players that would fit our program at CSUDH. Along with his work on the field, Coach Pfohl has been a welcomed assistant in the office relieving and assuming many of my administrative duties. We are fortunate to have Erich join our staff this year."
